Varicose Veins TreatmentsVaricose veins aren’t a new condition that patients are becoming aware of. In fact, if you have varicose veins, your mother, grandmother, and even great-grandmother likely had them as well. As the most popular way to get rid of varicose veins, it used to be that vein stripping was the only option. Luckily, times have changed, and we at Atlas Vein Care no longer use vein stripping, but we use other treatments instead. This article will discuss why we had to say goodbye to vein stripping and what other treatments we offer in its place. Read on to learn more.

What’s the Deal With Vein Stripping?

The biggest problem with vein stripping is that it’s a relatively invasive procedure that sometimes requires patients to stay the night at a hospital or clinic. During a vein stripping procedure, small incisions are made in the vein— typically on the upper thigh— and then a small metal rod is inserted into the skin. Once the rod is inserted, it is attached to the vein, and the vein is pulled out. Sound a bit frightening? We think so too. And even though results from vein stripping are effective, we found some other ways to give patients the same results without as big of a procedure.

What Are Your Options?

During your initial vein consultation with Atlas Vein Care, you and your doctor will go over all of the vein removal options you have. Here at our office, we offer six main treatment options including compression stockings, radiofrequency ablation, VenaSeal, ultrasound sclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy, and microphlebectomy. Depending on how severe your veins are and the results you would like to see, you and your doctor will create a treatment plan to help you get rid of your varicose veins.

Varicose veins can be painful and make you feel self-conscious. And although vein stripping used to be an effective way of getting rid of your varicose veins, we now have six other options for you. If you would like to learn more about varicose vein treatment or to schedule a consultation, contact Atlas Vein Care today!
